Obsidian is natural glass and has been used for jewelry, mirrors and tools for centuries.

Formed by volcanic lava that has cooled too quickly. Obsidian is usually black but can be found in brown, gray, red, blue and green. Bubbles or crystal inclusions (flaws in the stone) give some stones the name snowflake obsidian.

Obsidian can be found in Hawaii, Japan, Java and in all areas with volcanic activity.
